Essentials of Higher Degree by Research Supervision

Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates are an important part of The University of Queensland and their experience and success relies on good quality supervision.

Based on the broad goals of the Graduate Research Good Practice Principles, and UQ's policies and procedures we have a framework for supporting HDR candidates and their advisors.

The supervision of HDR candidates at UQ is undertaken by an advisory team led by the principal advisor. The principal advisor must be registered on the UQ Principal Advisor Registry, which is an up-to-date record of all advisors who are eligible to act as principal advisors to HDR candidates at UQ.

This guide will be updated from time to time. Please refer back to these pages for the most up to date information.
