Researcher biography

After studying medical science and infectious disease for my undergraduate studies, and working as a researcher in the development of sepsis diagnostics, I am now applying my skills as part of the PhD program with the School of Medicine. My PhD aims to complement clinical observations with a next generation sequencing based computational biology approach to paediatric patients diagnosed with sepsis. I am hoping to advance knowledge of the genetic determinants of antimicrobial resistance and virulence to better inform the growing role of sequencing in clinical practice. I am a passionate science communication advocate and hope to further develop these skills through the Global Change Scholars program to enable low resourced countries to build their own infectious disease strategies.
