Researcher biography

Daniel Seed is currently completing his PhD in journalism, with a focus on improving news media literacy and media access for migrant communities in Australia, as well improving news media practice in CALD communities. This work is done with a strong focus on interdisciplinarity and the holistic approach needed to improve news literacy in Australia.

In 2017, Daniel was a journalist on the Change Makers documentary, documenting the life and diversity of Woodridge State High School - a school with more than 70 cultural and national groups represented. He was also shortlisted for the Walkley Foundation's Innovation Grant in 2017 and a Google NewsLab Fellowship in 2018. Daniel has participated in two international relations and diplomacy delegations with the International Scholar Laureate Program in China and South Africa, gaining new perspectives on global politics and change.
