Researcher biography

I am currently a PhD student in the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland. My research focuses on developing, optimising and distributing machine learning algorithms. Through careful development and distribution, a machine learning algorithm may access hardware resources of multiple computers. Using extra hardware resources may be essential when analysing large data sets, as increased data leads to increased computation. I am also interested in how machine learning algorithms can be used to make predictions of global trends. One global issue I am particularly passionate about is that of preventing and repairing the damage caused to the environment through human activity, such as the damage caused through plastic in the oceans.
