Researcher biography

Linda is a PhD candidate at the School of Music, with supervision from both SoM and Qld. Brain Institute. She is exploring narratives of lived trauma via a folio of original works, including a symphony and an opera, with critical exegesis. Additionally, a world-first study of the effects of her Parkinson’s Disease, a neurodegenerative illness, on the deepest creative and mathematical compositional processes – and, where appropriate, the reverse – will be documented across the life of her candidature.

A lifetime’s experience as a composer, teacher, and performer now also includes 7 years directing New Voice Choir, a group that celebrates People with Parkinson’s and their supporters, underlining Linda’s passion for the creation of inspirational change to benefit both those living with chronic illness and broader audiences alike.
