Researcher biography

Mahdi Asadirad is a Ph.D. Student at University of Queensland, School of Agriculture and Food Sciences (SAFS) and being awarded the Higher Degree by Research Scholarship in 2021. Mahdi’s project is Alternative protein ingredients to replace soybean meal for sustainable livestock production systems. Soybean production impacts the loss of forests, grasslands, and savannahs as well as a relatively high carbon footprint. The aim of the project is to identify sustainable and locally produced viable alternative protein-rich ingredients that can replace soybean meal -fully or partially- in Livestock feed.

Mahdi has a master's degree in Agricultural engineering and animal science. He has over 15 years of experience working in both the feed and feed additives industry. Extensive on-farm practical experience, and possessing scientific knowledge focused on animal nutrition. He is the co-founder of Persiavites Co, a Company that produces feed additives and supplements.
