Project opportunity
This Earmarked Scholarship project is aligned with a recently awarded Category 1 research grant. It offers you the opportunity to work with leading researchers and contribute to large projects of national significance.
One fully funded PhD research opportunity exists within a four-year randomized controlled trial of online parenting support grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for families of children diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disabilities. The PhD is based at the Centre for Child Health Research, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia—one of Australia’s most research-intensive academic institutions and consistently included in the world’s top 50 universities across several independent major rankings.
The exact thesis will be scoped out with the right candidate, taking into account the candidate’s background and interests.
Scholarship value
As a scholarship recipient, you'll receive:
- living stipend of $32,192 per annum tax free (2023 rate), indexed annually
- tuition fees covered
- single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

- honours and awards
- employment history.
A working knowledge of neurodevelopmental disability, parenting intervention and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy would be of benefit to someone working on this project.
The applicant will demonstrate academic achievement in a relevant field (e.g. psychology) and the potential for scholastic success.
A background or knowledge of neurodevelopmental disability, parenting intervention and/or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is highly desirable.
Latest commencement date
If you are the successful candidate, you must commence by Research Quarter 1, 2025. You should apply at least 3 months prior to the research quarter commencement date.
If you are an international applicant, you may need to apply much earlier for visa requirements.
