Project opportunity
This Earmarked Scholarship project is aligned with a recently awarded Category 1 research grant. It offers you the opportunity to work with leading researchers and contribute to large projects of national significance.
Australian goat production enterprises consist of systems that have low -, medium- or high management inputs. The production performance indicators of these different systems are not known. This project will focus on benchmarking the production performance of different goat enterprises in Queensland and New South Wales over a number of years. A key performance indicator will be kg of meat produced per surface area per time unit and the costs of the kg of meat produced.
The project will entail collecting and interpreting data from a minimum of 5,000 goats produced by 15 producers. It is envisaged that each of these producers will have a different management system and inputs, which will be quantified.
