Project opportunity
This Earmarked Scholarship project is aligned with a recently awarded Category 1 research grant. It offers you the opportunity to work with leading researchers and contribute to large projects of national significance.
We are seeking a PhD student with a background in biomedical engineering and/or biomechanics to join our team to contribute to a body of work that aims to analyse movement of the spine and body in the real world. Projects will relate to measurement and analysis of movement to understand the relationship between movement and low back pain. The project will involve working with wearable sensors and will involve development of data processing methods to extract meaningful information that can be used to guide treatment selection and risk identification.

As a scholarship recipient, you'll receive:
- living stipend of $32,192 per annum tax free (2023 rate), indexed annually

A working knowledge of 3D motion analysis, wearable sensor technologies and experience with Matlab for data analysis would be of benefit to someone working on this project.
The applicant will demonstrate academic achievement in the field(s) of biomechanics or biomedical engineering and the potential for scholastic success.
A background or knowledge of Matlab programming is highly desirable.
Latest commencement date
If you are the successful candidate, you must commence by Research Quarter 1, 2024. You should apply at least 3 months prior to the research quarter commencement date.
